Our whole school Fruit of the Holy Spirit focus for the next five weeks of term is GOODNESS.
From Kindy to Year 6, children will be exploring what ‘goodness’ looks like and feels like in action.
As parents and teachers, we are called to spend time each day thinking about how we can best reflect God’s great goodness in our children’s lives.
The scriptures are a great place to start ….
Don’t Be Anxious
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” -Philippians 4:6
May we teach our children to trust in God’s great goodness and to hand over our worries to Him.
He Created Everything
“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.” -1 Timothy 4:4
May we teach our children to trust in God’s great goodness and to show respect and reverence for all creation, especially themselves.
Good to All
“The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” -Psalm 145:9
May we teach our children to trust in God’s great goodness by modelling mercy, forgiveness and starting afresh.
“For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” – Psalm 100:5
May we teach our children to trust in God’s great goodness by modelling a deep love that is abundantly generous, unconditional, wise, mature, authentic and life-long.
You Can Trust Him
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
May we teach our children to trust in God’s great goodness by modelling simple prayers of praise, thanksgiving and petition. Pray as a family! Pray together at Mass on a weekend! Pray in times of joy and in times of sorrow.
Going into our day doing all the good we can, wherever we can, whenever we can, means that everyone is the better for it, especially our children!
