Welcome back to a new school year, we trust that you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday period and are ready for the exciting events of 2015!
We are delighted to have your child in our class and we are looking forward to getting to know them throughout the year. We have high but realistic expectations for each child and rest assured we will work hard to support and help them to achieve their fullest potential.
Each year we strive to provide all students with meaningful experiences that not only challenge them academically but also help them to develop as ‘a whole person’. This means that alongside learning about fractions, language conventions, current events, compound words and so on, we will also be paying close attention to how we ‘relate’ together and how we work both collectively and individually to create a safe, nurturing and positive environment for all.
A quality home/school partnership is essential in helping your child to become the best they can be. If home and school have a consistent message and clear expectations then your child will be set up for success – emotionally, physically and academically.
Some of you may still have questions about life in Year Five. Hopefully the parent information evening last Wednesday answered most of these, however if you have any further queries or would like to make us aware of anything pertinent to your child, please feel free to send a short email or make an appointment. We do ask, however, that you give your child at least a few weeks to settle into Year Five, not only so they can get used to the change but also so we can get to know them better. We will also have a Two Way Interview in Week 6, which will give us an opportunity to meet and discuss how your child is travelling so far.
We are really looking forward to working with parents, students and teachers to ensure that your child really shines this year!
