Thank you so much for supporting our P&F HOT CROSS BUN DRIVE for 2014 – a fabulous effort with lots of volunteers and many families ordering hot cross buns – a fabulous community effort once again! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and enjoyed those yummy hot cross buns!
Mr Paul Davis, St Emilie’s PE teacher has topped off another great season for the Mt Lawley Hawks by winning the 2013/14 WADCCI Bowling Average. Paul took 41 wickets at an average of 12.83, he was also selected in the WADCCI Team of the Year.
Congratulations Paul – we are very proud of you!
Thank you so much to all our families for your wonderful support of our first fundraiser for the year – the whole school walkathon! Children walked with their buddies for half the way, then once the littlies had finished, the big kids ‘got their power walk on’ and finished off their 20 laps. While we certainly raised a fabulous amount, the day itself was a time to get outdoors, chat with our buddies and build relationships, be part of a whole school community effort and to get physical! A special thank you to mums and dads who came along to assist at checkpoints and to cheer us all on – it was really great to have you all there! (One of the things we are going to purchase with our money this year is a couple of giant chess sets for outdoor play! We are also going to buy some brand new pennant flags for each of our new Houses! YAY!!)
Come on kids and get your entry in for the PAWS FOR READING COMPETITION!
All you have to do is take a photo of your pet reading a book! Don’t worry if you don’t have a family pet – you could use one of your stuffed furry friends to model for you, or use your imagination to draw a dog or cat reading!!
You must also include with your photo your name, age, school, teachers full name & name of your pet!! Be as creative as you like, as there are great prizes to be won.
Students & teachers alike will be in with a chance to win a $100 Scholastic Voucher to spend!!!
And some lucky entrants will have their photo or artwork displayed on the Scholastic website!!
So get clicking or drawing everyone to be in the running… We will have a box set up in the office for you to pop in your entries.
Entries must be in by Wednesday 9th April, so they can be posted off to Scholastic.

A HUGE thank you to all those families who came along to help out at our first big community Busy Bee on Saturday 5th April – it was a fabulous turnout and everyone got stuck into the hard work with a smile and a spring in their step! New families had an opportunity to meet new people and children really made a difference too – raking out mulch, cleaning out sandpits, wiping down ledges, sanding benches and more! The good humour, generosity of spirit and the practical help was an absolutely awesome effort and has helped save time and money in our school. Thanks also to those thoughtful families who sent in yummy morning tea for all the workers – it was delicious!
All in all another wonderful opportunity to be together and get to know each other a little more, while helping out our school community. A special thank you to Stuart Munro, Glenn Cogger, Gary Millar and the School Board for your organisation of the morning.
This Thursday evening the 3rd April, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, Year Three children will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the very first time. Families and parishioners will also participate in this liturgy of the Second Rite as personal and communal preparation for the joy of Easter Sunday, when we celebrate Jesus conquering death and rising to New Life. Please keep our Year Three’s and their families in your prayers as they take time out of the busyness to reflect upon their need for healing and peace.
Last week all Year Six students were invited to write an application to the St Emilie’s School Leadership Team for an opportunity to meet the Premier on Friday 21st March and ask him a couple of questions of interest to them. Teyharna Curry and Jordan Passeur’s application letters were selected and the girls joined other representative students, at the invitation of Mr Peter Abbetz MLA. They both found the experience interesting and Mr Munro, who accompanied them, reported that the girls did our school proud! Congratulations and thank you girls!
