One of the Australian Curriculum Numeracy standards in Year 2 is to be able to identify everyday events that involve chance. To this end, the students have been using language such as ‘likely’ or ‘unlikely’ and ‘possible’ or ‘impossible’ to describe possible outcomes during a range of experiments.
This week we have been exploring the concept of chance by using everyday items such as coins and dice to help us see what the chances were of flipping ‘tails’ ten times in a minute or rolling a ‘6’ five times in a minute.
We are still very curious to find out how chance works. We wonder if we’ll ever know? 🙂
