This term the Year One and Two students are exploring their community through our guided inquiry topic
Connected Communities. We would like to learn more about the different roles and responsibilities that people have in our community. We are looking for volunteers (parents, grandparents, aunties or uncles) to take part in our Y ear One and Two Community Expo to be held on Thursday the 25th February in the School Hall starting at 9.00am. Volunteers are asked to please begin setting up stalls at 8.30am.
We hope the stalls will inform the children about some of the different roles that individuals within our families have in the community and provide them with a ‘hands-on‛ learning opportunity.
We encourage you to wear a uniform and bring along any props that might help in developing the children‛s understanding of the role you play in the community. Props can include: brochures, stationery and tools.
If you could bring your own card table or the like to display your presentation that would also be appreciated.
If you would like to send photos of you at your place of work please email them to your classroom teacher and a slide show will be made for the expo. Even if you are unable to attend the Expo you are more than welcome to send in photos!
Each child will be carrying a bag to collect items from each stall at the expo. If you can provide any simple ‘take home‛ items for the children that would be very much appreciated. We are happy to do any photocopying that may be required (if kept to a minimum).
For example: If you are a nurse you can wear your uniform, your prop could be bandages and your take home item for the children could be a health pamphlet.
In order for our Expo to be a successful learning experience for the children we need your help! If you know of anyone who would be willing to take part please let your class teacher know by Wednesday 17th February. Thank you for your help and support! No occupation is too big or small!!
