During our Mathematics lessons we have been focusing on time related concepts for the first three weeks of this term.
We started by learning how to tell the time using words for five-minute intervals past the hour. For example:
And we also learned to tell the time using words for five-minute intervals to the hour. For example:
Our class then practised reading a clock face and recording the time in digital form. For example:
We had great fun practising our skills by playing a game of ‘Time Memory’ and by using the ipad app ‘Telling Time’.
As a class we then ordered lengths of time from the shortest to the longest time period and brainstormed and discussed activities that could be completed within each time period.

Once we had an understanding of different units of time and how to read a clock using words and in digital form, we then learned how to convert between different units of time.
Finally, to conclude our work on time our class learned how to calculate elapsed time.
