St Emilie’s is celebrating our 2014 whole school numeracy focus with a Fact-A-Thon in Week Four of this term.
Sponsor sheets were sent home before the school hols however if you need one it is attached here:
All children have been given a practise number fact sheet.each week as part of their homework.
Each child’s particular facts will align with their class program and the work being covered in our multi-age Maths Groups. Typically, they will include appropriate addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts.
Please return your child’s sponsor sheet and monies to their class teacher by Monday 10th November or ASAP, thank you!
Part of the money raised will directly benefit one of the students in our school, who urgently needs expensive equipment to meet their physical needs. Other funds will be directed towards class and school projects.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to students learning lots of great numeracy facts in the coming weeks!
Regards, St Emilie’s Staff
This Friday, 31 October 2014 is World Teachers’ Day!
Celebrated in over 100 countries, World Teachers’ Day acknowledges the efforts of teachers in an increasingly complex, multicultural and technological society. It is a day on which students, parents and community members are invited to demonstrate their appreciation for the contributions that teachers make to their children and school community.
How might we let our teachers know how much we appreciate them?
While we know that our teachers don’t expect anything at all, it is always lovely to have an opportunity to say THANK YOU to people who give so much of themselves and their time to supporting our children in so many different ways every day. We are very fortunate here at St Emilie’s to have such a dedicated, professional and hard working team of teachers, Education Assistants and Admin staff!
Sending in a little note or email of thanks; sending a little cupcake or a flower from your garden with a little note or simply popping in at the end of the day and saying – THANKS are simple ways of acknowledging your appreciation for the hard work of our staff.
We look forward to hearing what you come up with! 🙂
The Leadership Team
A reminder that our Year Six students will be receiving the Sacrament of CONFIRMATION at one of this weekends Masses.
A very special thank you to our Year Six teachers, to Mrs Aquino and to Parish Catechists for all their efforts in preparing the children and for preparing these Masses.
Pictured here is Charito who so very generously made our Confirmation stoles. A mother of seven children and a grandmother many times over, she has done a wonderful job and we are so very grateful for her special gifts and her kindness in getting this job done.
We wish all our candidates the very best for the day itself but of course even more than this, we pray that all they have learnt so far lis leading them to more fully appreciate the wonderful relationship between faith and real life! The Sacrament of Confirmation leads us to appreciate and feel safe in the knowledge that the Holy Spirit lives and breathes and moves in our lives as a source of great strength for the Christian journey. This strength empowers us to be GOOD NEWS in the world – to walk in the footsteps of Christ and to make a positive, life-giving difference.
A couple of youtubes that discuss the Sacrament of Confirmation – worth a listen to!
Football is about spirit, strength, courage and the fight to win. Those touched by cancer share a similar journey and need the same strength and courage to win their individual fight.
Every year in September, Fight Cancer Foundation asks all Australians to choose their one day in September to show their true colours and wear their favourite football team’s colours to support children and teens who fight against cancer.
We have chosen the last day of school, Thursday, 25th September to host our Footy Colours Day!
To celebrate the end of Term, while helping a great cause, students are asked to please bring a gold coin donation and come dressed in colours that reflect their favourite footy team!
If they don’t have a favourite team we hope they will still get into the spirit of the event and support this very worthy cause. Thank you to our Year 6 Leaders who will be facilitating a series of tabloid activities in the afternoon for all to enjoy!
