We begin the term preparing for our Inter-school Athletics carnival.
This is to be held in week 3, over 2 separate days.
On Wednesday 28th October we compete in the Field Events and then on Friday 30th October we conclude the carnival with the Track events.
Both days will be held at the Ern Clark Athletics Centre, which is now one of the best facilities in the state. After winning the carnival last year, we are hoping we will be strong contenders again this year.
We are also beginning this term with European Handball. This is a very energetic and team based sport that the kids are absolutely loving. It is a sport that is quite new to most year groups, but it is amazing how quickly they have picked up the skills.
We will also be doing some Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball and Cricket skills to close out the year.
There will be an opportunity for some of our year 6 students who were part of cricket team to be guests at the WACA for the first day of the test against NZ. This will be an awesome opportunity for these children to see Australia’s best cricketers, live in the flesh!
The major focus in Health this term will be basic First Aid and Safety Awareness.
Many classes have already discussed the importance of having access to a First Aid Kit, what we should expect to find in a First Aid Kit, and how we would use those items in different situations.
We will also be looking at the various clubs and groups that we belong to – focussing on how we contribute and also how clubs and groups have the potential of helping develop us positively as people.
Finally in Health this term we will also be looking at our how we nurture and develop positive, healthy relationships particularly with our family and friends.
Have a good term everyone.
