Our 2017 Swimming Captains – Jenna Harvey and Patrick Shaw
Preparation for this years Swimming carnival began way back in Week 2 of this term.
Each Thursday, we have had over 30 students get themselves up bright and early to take part in our squad training sessions.
A massive thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to drop students off to the pool, stay for training, and then have them back at school for the beginning of the day, your efforts have been amazing!
Well done to all members of our St.Emilie’s 2017 Swimming Team!
1. St.Joseph’s 779
2. Notre Dame 644
3. Sacred Heart 628
4. St.Munchin’s 609
5. St.Emilie’s 557
Although we finished 5th on the table, our students once again demonstrated enthusiasm and sportsmanship that was noted by many spectators and staff.
We had a number of outstanding individual performances on the day.
Most notably Maureen Sherry (Year 4) finishing second in the Open Butterfly event; where she competed against year 6 Girls!
Rory Darrah (Year 4) received the Runner Up champion boy award, which demonstrated his proficiency across all strokes.
Jessica Ladiszlai (Year 4) also competed in Open events, and was unlucky to miss out on Runner Up Champion Girl – by only 1 pt!
I would like to send a big thank you to all parents who came along to cheer on our swimmers, our senior students for assisting with team organisation, and Mr Munro, Mrs Aquino, Mrs Harvey, Mrs Curulli, Miss Corkhill and Miss Carroll for the help I have received this term – whether that be attending training sessions, trials or the carnival itself.
We now look forward to a big Term 2 in Sport with our focus shifting to Winter Sport and Cross-Country.
