INTER SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Today we took along 30 St Emilie’s children to take part in an Inter school cross country competition.
After winning the event last year, we went into today feeling very confident. Our children had trained for a number of weeks leading up to this event and we had selected a very strong group of runners to represent our school.
We began the day very strongly with Taylah Haboldt winning the year 4 girls race and Taj Forrest running second in the boys event.
Our year 5 team was up next. All of our year 5 runners were able to run consistent races and we had a number of top 10 finishers.
Finally it was the year 6s turn. Shenae Hartree absolutely dominated her race, winning by more than100 metres and then Matteo Rossiello ran an amazing second in his race that contained a big sprint to the finish.
At the end of the, St Emilie’s finished in 2nd place.
It was an extremely close count, with only 5 points separating us from winning the competition.
A big thank you to the many parents who turned up to support and cheer on our kids.
We have a an exciting group of athletes at St. Emilie’s and we are already looking forward to the Track and Field events later this term.
And yes, the weather cooperated which was excellent!

This term we have been lucky to have both the Eagles and Dockers visit our school.
Firslty, we met Rick ‘The Rock’ and Bradd Dalziell from the West Coast Eagles who came to chat about a number of healthy lifestyle issues, including a discussion about healthy nutrition, the importance of being active and execising, being resilient and including others.
Rick ‘The Rock’ also challenged a few of our students to some arm wrestles however we were far too strong for him…and we have captured some of our students defeating him!
Following this, our Year 6 football team was given an hour long training session from West Coast eagles player Fraser McIness.
He was fantastic with the kids and hopefully some of his tips will help our footy team as they continue their eagles Cup campaign this term.
Our Year 5 Students have also been very lucky this term. They have had the opportunity to visit the Fremantle Dockers and be taken for a tour through the clubrooms and also receive a clinic on Fremantle Oval by the players. This was another great opportunity to witness how their favourite players have to really look after their bodies with the foods they eat and how they keep fit and healthy with their tough training and exercise routines.
Our year 5 classes will also have 2 Dockers players come to their classroom and take a health lesson later in the year!
