The Year Ones and Twos invited some very special guests to school on Monday for a morning of sharing and celebration!
We began the morning with a ‘Show and Tell’. We loved hearing stories about some very special photos and items from the past!. We saw old telephones, cameras, dolls, teddy bears, typewriters, records and more!
Our special guests then stayed for morning tea and some ‘olden days’ games! We had lots of fun playing elastics, hopscotch, dominoes, cards, skittles and quoits! I think our guests enjoyed themselves too!
Next week we will be sharing information we have learnt through interviewing an ‘older person’. We can’t wait to discover more answers to our many questions about life in the past!
On Wednesday 10th September we attended an Agrifoods Incursion in our school hall. This incursion is part of a national education programme that aims to raise the awareness of the Australian agriculture industry with teachers and students – in particular, the food supply chain.
Adrienne Richardson presented a range of agrifood topics linked directly to the Australian Curriculum. The presentation was an interactive workshop where the students had the opportunity to create food and share their experiences at the the end. Some of the foods the students created were; turning cream into butter, crushing grains to make flour, making fresh orange juice, looking at types of sugar and working out if an egg is fresh or rotten. Overall it was an interactive and engaging way to see how different foods are produced and then arrive on our plates!
What fun we had on Friday at our Dad’s Morning in Pre Primary. We invited our Dad’s to spend the morning with us after the Father’s Day Breakfast. We planned special activities to share with our Dad’s including making a tie for Dad to wear and making prints with trucks in paint. We used tools to make shapes and prints in our play dough, we used recyclable materials to create a frameless collage and engaged in Maths activities with dice, money and playing cards.
We had a photo booth in our classroom and dressed up with hats, funny glasses and moustaches. In the outdoor area we played a fishing game, cricket, soccer and football. We had fun using the woodwork bench and real tools. Thank you Dad’s and Grandad’s for coming and sharing activities with us. It was a special day for everyone!
We have been busy bees in Year Three Gold for the last couple of weeks! We have been getting organised and prepared for Open Night and we can’t wait to show off all of our learning next Tuesday night.

This term we have been curious about life in the past. We recently put together a History of Me bag and used the iPads to create a story about our short life using the items we brought in. We had a great time sharing and chatting about objects and photos that are special to us.
We had a lovely morning with our Grandparents earlier this week. We listened to some Grandparents share information about their life when they were young and even got to have a look at some old items like telephones, cameras with film, typewriters and old toys. More Grandparents joined us for morning tea and old fashioned games. We all had a wonderful morning and loved spending time with our Groovy Grandparents!
We are in the process of creating a mini story about our Grandparents. We are using the information we gathered in our interviews to write about our Grandparents. We enjoyed sharing our information and have learnt some funny stories about our Grandparents!
We were so lucky to have the “Bees Neez” Apiarists visit Kindy for Science Week!
We learned how bee hives work and how Apiarists collect honey from their bees.
The taste testing was so yummy and we dressed in beekeepers suits!
Kindy has been a hive of activity with investigations into bees, their homes and habits, along with pollination and the importance of bees to our food production.
The Science Expo will see the fruits of our learning on show to share with our families! Looking forward to seeing you there!
