A big thank you to Chloe and Pat for generously opening the Uniform Shop in the school hols – a great opportunity for families!
Congratulations to Mrs Anne Aquino and Mrs Tania Thuijs on being accepted for a sponsored place in the 2015 Professional Certificate in Instructional Leadership Course run through Melbourne University and facilitated by Professor John Hattie and Professor Steve Dinham.
Anne and Tania will be involved in study and action research throughout the year, which will directly benefit students and staff here at St Emilie’s!
Among school-related factors, school leadership is second only to teaching in its potential influence on student learning. Instructional leadership therefore, is a critical aspect of school leadership.
The ongoing work of instructional leaders is to ensure that every student receives the highest quality instruction each day. Here at St Emilie’s we continue to reflect upon teaching and learning in relation to ongoing improvement, and we professionally develop ourselves and work closely as a team, to harness our knowledge, experience, skills and collective strengths, for the good of all.
And so the exciting new year begins!
Dear St Emilie’s families,
It is really great to be back at school again! The holidays are always such a special time for ‘downing tools’ and stepping away from the busyness of work – we hope you managed a break too?
The staff have been very busy in the last couple of weeks preparing their classrooms and programs for the term ahead, however you will be pleased to know that they are refreshed, excited and enthusiastic about working together as a team again and of course getting to know your child and supporting their learning throughout the year!
To help you plan your time in relation to school events and commitments over the the next nine weeks, we have typed up a simple summary of all that is going on here at St Em’s (as per the term planner and Google calendar on the front page of the website ) – we hope this will be really helpful. If something is added or changed we will let you low via email.
Please make note that this Wednesday the 4th February is our annual, whole school Parent Information Evening and we are really hoping that every family will be represented. This is your opportunity to meet staff, hear some key messages and be a visible presence in our ‘community’. We are looking forward to seeing you!
This is a ‘parent’ evening so if possible, please try to organise child minding if both of you plan on coming.
Parents are asked to attend one classroom session + the whole school session in the hall. If you have more than one child you have the option of also attending the second session with the next teacher, or alternatively both parents can attend one session time, each with a different teacher. If you have three or more children you will need to choose which two teachers you wish to see and the teacher/s you miss can be caught up with at a later date or read the info they post onto the website.
Classroom Session 1 – Kindy to Yr 6 – 5.45pm – 6.15pm
6.15pm Walk to School Hall
Whole School Parent Session in hall 6.30pm -7.15pm
7.15pm walk to the next classroom for session 2
Classroom Session 2 – Kindy to Yr 6 – 7.30pm – 8.00pm
Important – each family will be given a Parent Pack containing family forms,on the Parent Information Night (in the classroom of the eldest child) that need to be filled in and returned to the Office by Friday 6th February
Please also consider placing an expression of interest for being a P&F Class Representative for 2015. A form and more info can be found at this link: http://web.stemiliescps.wa.edu.au/?p=4787
Thank you to Melinda Lucente and to Vicki Sherrington who have both put their hands up so far!
If your family will be unable to make it ( which we are expecting won’t be many), please let the Office staff know so that we can make note of what information you have missed and forward to you.
For any Mums and Dads who may be feeling a little nervous or anxious – for themselves and /or their children, please trust us… you are all in very good and experienced hands and we are here to support you!
New families – we hope your first week is a really great one! Please do not hesitate to pop into the front office if you need a hand or have a question.
A cup of tea and a bicky will be available in the hall every morning from 8.45am – 9.30am for the next couple of weeks for any parents who would like an opportunity for a quick catch up! KIndy and PP families and any new families are especially encouraged to pop in, however all families are very welcome! Just remember…
Take care and see you tomorrow!
