After waiting almost 14 weeks, the Year 2’s were finally able to harvest their potatoes! Friday of Week 3
Much excitement was had in the Vege Patch as we dug through the soil and found our little purple pieces of treasure!
There were squeals of delight as each new potato was discovered and potato sizes were compared.
After the potatoes were picked everyone was eager to taste them!
On Wednesday of Week 4 the Year 2’s prepared the potatoes – they were washed, wrapped in foil and baked in the oven.
Toppings such as bacon, cheese, sour cream, capsicum, tomato and even sausage were added, and then it was time to taste!
It was an unanimous “MMMMMMM” as we ate our school-grown, perfect potatoes!
We had so much fun learning about the important process of growing, preparing and eating our own food.
We now know there is so much involved in getting our food from ‘paddock to plate’ and we look forward to sharing this knowledge with our friends and family.
We would like to say BIG THANK YOU to Mr & Mrs Cogger for all their help!
