On Friday 17 March the students of Gannon House celebrated Gannon Day.
Our House Patron, Sister Margaret Mary Gannon, is a Sister of St Joseph of the Apparition. We celebrate our house day at this time, as the Feast Day of St Joseph is on March 19.
During our morning assembly, we shared the message of our house motto, ‘Serving with Humility’. We seek to honour this motto by working together to serve others in our community.
We can serve others with humility by…
Saying an encouraging word
Buying or making a small gift for someone
Donating to the needy
We finished of our assembly with a bit of fun, sharing our own rendition of ‘Gannon Style’!
The students in Gannon House also spent the day putting our house motto into action, by donating items to be made into “Care Packages” for needy families in our local community.
We gathered together in the Science Room to put our care packages together.
We displayed great teamwork, and had a lot of fun both decorating and filling our boxes.
Our completed care packages have been delivered to Coolabaroo Neighbourhood Centre, where we hope they put a smile on the faces of many children and families.
A big thank you to all of our Gannon families for their thoughtfulness and generosity when donating items.
A PRAYER FOR HUMILITY From Psalm 131
keep our hearts from being too proud,
keep our eyes from mean and unkind looks,
keep our minds from thinking only of ourselves,
keep our spirits calm so we may consider the needs of others
Keep our feet on the path to justice
Make us people of courage and humility for you are our hope now and always.
