It might be the last week of Term Two but we are sill busy in Year One Blue!
We have been learning in to skip count in 2’s. It can be a little tricky to remember the pattern as the numbers get higher. We used real shoes to help us count in 2’s! We lined up the pairs of shoes and put our counting skills to the test!
We have also been learning about Friends of Ten. These are two numbers that equal ten when added together. Being able to recall our friends of ten is a skill that will help us solve addition sums without using our fingers! Using ten frames can help us see the friends of ten sums easier. We used coloured plates as our jumbo counters and worked together to show all the ways of making ten as well as writing the sums to match.
Our last Religious Education unit this term has been ‘Friends Together’. We have read stories about friendship and have discussed the qualities of a good friend. Our discussions also focused on being able to share friends – we can be friends with many people! We created lovely portraits of our friends and read a special story from the Bible about a man called Zacchaeus. Jesus showed love to Zacchaeus and helped him to become a better friend.
We have had another busy term and can’t wait to learn more!
Have a safe and happy holiday!
