We have had a busy end to Term Three!
We have enjoyed learning about Social Justice and different cultures this term. After reading the story, Speak Chinese Fang Fang, we spent time talking about how we would feel if we were new to our school or country and how we could make others feel welcome. We used the words fairness, acceptance, respect and understanding to help frame an ‘I Message’ – what we would do to welcome people from a different country into our school. We are becoming fantastic writers!
“I will show fairness by if they fall down in the playground I will not laugh at them”. Jerrin
“I will show respect by showing them around the school and I will not pick on them and I will not laugh at them and I will not make fun of them”. Ava
“I will show understanding. If they speak a different language I will listen really closely and I might hear a little bit of English. If I know how to speak their language I will know what they are saying. If they are speaking to someone else I can translate so everyone will know what they are saying”. Evan
Footy Colours Day
We had a fun afternoon enjoying the Footy Colour Day activities organised by the Year Sixes. It was great to spend time with our Buddies who were wonderful in encouraging us to try new things!
Jesus Calms the Storm
We have spent time exploring God’s Creation and the many wonderful things in our world. We also learnt that Jesus spent a lot of time in nature either praying or teaching others about God’s love. We watched a story called Jesus Calms the Storm and discovered, not only Jesus enjoying God’s creation with His Disciples, but the miracle He performed in calming the wild storm.
We have had a busy term but have learnt many new things along the way! We can’t wait for our holidays! Stay safe and we will see you soon for our final term of Year One!
