We are really enjoying our Creativity unit this term! We have read many stories about children using their imagination in creative ways…just like us! We have also talked about the various ways in which our mind works – these are called Habits of Mind. It’s so interesting that our mind can work in many different ways!
Habit Of Mind: Creating, Imagining and Innovating
After reading the story Going Places by Peter and Paul Reynolds, we took part in a design challenge of our own. We were each given one brown box – the challenge?
To change this box into anything we liked!
We created a blueprint to follow and thought carefully about the materials we needed.
We definitely used our imaginations! It was fun to create, imagine and innovate!
Habit Of Mind: Striving For Accuracy And Precision
We used our Striving For Accuracy Habit of Mind to create an observational drawing. We each chose an object to draw – from flowers and carrots to a piece of corn on the cob! We looked closely at the shapes, colours and lines and strove for accuracy trying to make our drawings just like the real thing! We increased the size of our original drawing and added colour. We are super impressed with our finished art work!
We can’t wait for the next creative activity heading our way!
