The Inter-School Athletics Carnival took place on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
On Tuesday we were greeted with blazing sunshine and perfect conditions for our children to compete in the 400m, Long Jump, Turbo Javelin and Shot Put events.
St.Emilie’s began the carnival brilliantly by dominating the 400m events as well as some very strong performances in the Jumps and Throws.
At the half way mark of the carnival, St.Emilie’s were placed in second position, very narrowly behind St.Joseph’s.
Day Two of the carnival was Thursday.
We were greeted with contrasting conditions. Wet, wild and windy conditions ensured the running events and team games would be very hard work for all competitors.
Once again, St.Emilie’s students performed consistently well throughout the day across all events. Our team game performances were a highlight, with over 350 of our points coming from these events.
We also had 3 of our students rewarded with medals for their own individual performances throughout the carnival.
Amy P in year 6, Louis H in year 5 and Sophie A in year 4 were recognised for their outstanding efforts.
St.Emilie’s finished the carnival in 2nd position. We are very proud of the effort from all of our team members and we continue to lead the way with the sportsmanship and attitude that we display.
A very big thank you to all the staff that assisted on the day and to the parents who braved the conditions to give us your support.
