One of the curriculum standards in Year Two is to ‘create short imaginative, informative and persuasive texts using growing knowledge of text structures and language features.’
This term we have been focusing on the structure and format of reports.
To practice our report writing skills, we first did some research by reading all about one of our favourite mini beasts…ladybirds!
We then planned our own ‘ladybird reports’ with a partner by recording the information we had learnt about these tiny interesting creatures. Did you know that ladybirds squirt a nasty poison when they are in danger?
We are now using our plans to write individual reports. It has been really tricky remembering to put our ideas into complete sentences, as well as use correct spelling and punctuation…
but we are getting there – with a little help from our friends!
