Year 2G celebrated World Environment Day on Friday!
We started the day by watching an inspirational video by Caritas, showing how young people living in Brazil worked together to help each other, the environment and their community.

This video made us realise how fortunate we are and got us thinking about how we can…
‘BE MORE, rather than HAVE MORE’
How can WE help to look after God’s creation?
If you see rubbish, put it in the bin (Hudson)
I will not pull the bark and branches off trees (Amy)
I will look after the planet. Be more, not have more (Kaitlyn)
I will ask a friend if they want it before I throw it out (Ava C)
I won’t have a lot of wrappers (Aaliyah)
We can reduce, reuse, recycle and repair (Maureen)
We can plant new plants and not waste paper (Ione)
Don’t always drive, sometimes walk because you’re putting pollution in the air (Rory)
I will recycle paper and use the recycle bin more (Antonio)
We were also very excited to have REmida visit us for a very special incursion!
REmida is a creative reuse centre that collects industrial discards from shops and factories around Perth, and makes these materials available to schools, childcare centres, artists and families.
We had a lot of fun exploring the different materials and enjoyed the challenge of making our creations, without the use of sticky tape or glue!
We are looking forward to applying our new knowledge, skills and techniques and exploring what else we can create with waste materials!
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for useful items at home that could be sent into school for future projects.
A big thank you to the wonderful mums and grandparents who offered a helping hand during the REmida workshop. It was great having you join us!
