Welcome to Term Three! We hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready for a fantastic term ahead.
Below you will find the parent letter that explains what your child will be learning during Term Three.

This week in Religious Education we have been learning about the ways each person’s body is different and that each is unique and special. We recognised that even though we are all different, God loves each and every one of us the same.
To gain an understanding of how people with vision impairment use their bodies we covered our eyes and asked our friends to guide us around the junior oval. We learnt that we had to rely on the other senses in our body to guide us safely, as well as relying on a friend for support.
Aidan – It made me feel a bit sick and dizzy.
Meika – I saw black and pink.
Savannah – I felt scared because I couldn’t see where I was going.
Amelia – I felt worried because the ground was uneven. I felt like I was going to fall over.
Some discussions we had in Two Blue were…
- We felt scared because it was dark
- We felt dizzy because we couldn’t see
- We were worried that we were going to bump into something
Another challenge we faced was completing a guided drawing of a monster using our non dominant writing hand. Many of us found this difficult and frustrating. From these challenges we have been able to form a deeper appreciation of what our body can do.
Jayden – My drawing was really messy, I didn’t like it.
Leandra – I felt bad because it doesn’t look good
Aidan – It made me feel embarrassed
Titan – I felt sad because I was worried that people might laugh at my work
Gabriella – It felt really weird, I haven’t done that before. My normal hand is so neat.
In Writing this week we have been continuing to learn the actions to our Story Map. We are learning to tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood so that we can verbalise and sequence a story aloud before writing it. As part of our writing lessons this week we have also been learning to write a sentence of three. Using the sentences of three we made WANTED posters. We are hoping that we will be able to track down the Big Bad Wolf soon.
Here are our final Romero Britto pieces. We are very happy with how they turned out. Shortly in Art, we will be looking at warm and cool colours. We look forward to producing some new Artwork to display in the classroom.
This morning it was National Simultaneous Story-time. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This year our book was… Give me some Space!
Both Year 2 classes listened to a real life astronaut, Charlie read the story.
We really enjoyed listening to Charlie talk about his experiences in space and some his favourite facts.
This week in art we explored the artist Romero Britto. Romero Britto is a Brazilian artist who uses lots of different elements of art including pop art, and graffiti painting in his work, using vibrant colours and bold patterns. We explored different types of lines and then had to draw the letter of our first name in pencil. Once we had outlines it we made some sections in it. After that we used patterns and lines to decorate the inside of our letter. After this part we drew some more lines and patterns to create the background. Once they are finished, you will be able to see our artwork displayed in our classroom 🙂
Here are some progress pictures.
Today we had our Year 2 Mother’s Day Assembly.
We are so proud of our Year 2’s for their amazing effort, singing and speaking. They looked fantastic dressed up as their Mum’s!
We hope all our Mum’s have a very special Mother’s Day and a restful weekend.
We look forward to hearing all of your wonderful stories on Monday.
