One of the Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Year 2 is to ‘identify practical activities and everyday events that involve chance’.
We have been learning to describe outcomes as ‘likely’ or ‘unlikely’ and identify some events as ‘certain’ or ‘impossible’.
We discovered that there are some outcomes that are impossible to predict when rolling a dice and tossing a coin!
We also thought about which outcome was ‘most likely’, ‘least likely’ and ‘impossible’ when drawing coloured counters from a bag.
PS We are quickly becoming experts at using tally marks to record our data!
