Year 2 had an exciting time during their excursion to Fremantle! We participated in a walking tour to learn more about Aboriginal culture and history, as well as visit some very interesting and historical landmarks.
Our tour guide, Greg, had many interesting facts and stories to share with us! We loved hearing about the Aboriginal people using the branches from tea trees to catch fish and wattle seeds to make bread!
We were able to explore the Round House, which is the oldest public building in the whole of Western Australia. It was built in 1831 and was used as a prison.
We also visited the Whaling Tunnel. Did you know that whale oil was used to light lamps in the past?
Things were very different before electricity!
We’re now looking forward to learning more about Aboriginal culture and listening to more Dreamtime stories back at school!
